I'm listening to some music and reading currently.

I have spent the rest of the morning straightening up the domicile a bit. I need to do a bit more, but I'm taking a coffee break.

Then a Zevon tune popped up. The lyrics are below. It is also interesting to note that all the characters in the song are the songwriters.

Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead
Written By LeRoy P. Marinell, Waddy Wachtel and Warren Zevon
c. 1991 Zevon Music administered by Warner-Tamerlane Publishing corp
LeadsheetlandBMI/Tiny Tunes ASCAP

I called up my friend LeRoy on the phone
I said, Buddy, I'm afraid to be alone
'Cause I got some weird ideas in my head
About things to do in Denver when you're dead

I was working on a steak the other day
And I saw Waddy in the Rattlesnake Cafe
Dressed in black, tossing back a shot of rye
Finding things to do in Denver when you die

You won't need a cab to find a priest
Maybe you should find a place to stay
Some place where they never change the sheets
And you just roll around Denver all day

LeRoy says there's something you should know
Not everybody has a place to go
And home is just a place to hang your head
And dream of things to do in Denver when you're dead

You won't need a cab to find a priest
Maybe you should find a place to stay
Some place where they never change the sheets
And you just roll around Denver all day
You just roll around Denver all day

Things to Do in Denver...

You posted Zevon lyrics in your journal. Do you have any idea how much I'm crushing on you right now? :D

Well ya know...every guy should crush on me at some point. ;-)

My first exposure to Mr. Z, as you mentioned in one of your "tot" group postings, was indeed Werewolves of London. Over ten years ago hence, I purchased my first album by him, "Excitable Boy" as a result. I didn't explore more until about a year or two ago, when I acquired "Genius" and then finally, "The Wind".

Play it All Night Long is another one of my favorites. :-)

Yeah, "Play It All Night Long" is a great track. I first heard it on a tape in my car stereo and thought I'd have to pull over, I was laughing so hard; the only two songs to ever have a similar effect on me were the Adam Sandler song where he throws in all these names of women from other songs, and Public Enemy's recent track "Son of a Bush."

Hmmm...I have heard neither of these other songs. I'll have to look for them.

Yes, Play it All Night Long really bowled me over when I first heard it, as well. Family values, indeed. :-)
