I am fortunate that I have not required any pain killers for this root canal. Yesterday, my tooth was sensitive, as if it was bruised. This morning I didn't even notice it. What I do notice is that I think I possibly cut or strained the area below my tongue on one of the xray film squares. I hate those things. Anyway, that part has been bothering me when I move my tongue. I think the swelling has gone down, too.

Let's hope it continues to do so.

Swelling...

...usually increases for the first three days after injury, and then declines steadily thereafter. And it is very, VERY normal for your tooth to feel bruised - when they pack the gutta percha (the rubbery filling material) inside the tooth, the apex area (or root tip) becomes a bit inflamed, and that's what causes that 'bruised' feeling. An anti-inflammatory (like Motrin or Ibuprofen if you can take them) is the best thing to do for it, but since you're not feeling it, there's no reason to take it now. I'm glad you're feeling more comfortable!

As far as the x-ray square cutting into you goes, well, that sucks. Lower films are one of the cruelest things we do to folks in dentistry, and I hope it heals up for you soon. Should be gone in a day or two. I just hate that 'iron-y' feeling oral injuries give your tongue when you touch them.

My sympathies and get-well wishes are most certainly with you, dolly! Love your guts!

Yay for your dental expertise!

*hugs*

By the way, since you asked in your previous post, I'm doing fine...just all dreamy eyed and dizzy headed about this possible job in London. :-)

There's a job opening similar to my current job in our London office. It's a minimum two year committment. So, I'm going to go for it. I love London. Though it is expensive to live there.

Anyway, if I get it, I'm guaranteed one hell of an adventure!

And then you'd have to come visit me. ;-) Or, I can just hop over the channel if you and Paul hit Paris. ;-)

If you get that job, I am SO there. I'll make a nuisance of myself by nesting in your luggage!

Jesus - wouldn't THAT be a horrible surprise?

It sure would...well, not horrible, assuming you survived the trip in the luggage compartment. :-)
