The Marriage Issue

"We know now which senators are for traditional marriage and which ones are not, and by November so will voters in every state," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. "This fight has just begun."

Just what hell is a traditional marriage, when 50% of marriages fail, and people are no stranger single parent households or families with half-siblings and step siblings?

What is so traditional about heterosexual partnerships when certain couples end up getting divorced when one of the marital complains is that the husband wanted to go to sex clubs and engage in public sex. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but is that traditional?

Whenever I heard a politico talk about how they support "traditional marriage" I want to ask them "You mean you support women being treated as property, not being allowed to divorce their husbands, minorities not being allowed to marry, not allowing a person of one race to marry a person of another, and husbands being legally allowed to beat (and sometimes kill) their wives? Because thourghout most of history that's what marriage 'traditionally' has been."
