Greetings from Ashland, Oregon

taogrl and I rolled into Ashland at about 1:30pm. It was h-h-hot. It is hot. Were it not for the air conditioning in this little Motel, I'd be donating all my liquid to the atmosphere.

The drive from Sacramento took about 4.5 hours, give or take 30 minutes with rest stops and our picnic lunch.

We made no reservations; we simply rolled into town like two sweaty people who owned the joint. Well, not exactly, but we were able to appropriate:

-Two tickets to see Henry VI, Part II and III. (we read up on part 1 on the internet) Our seats are in the second row! Hot damn, Vietnam!

-Found a motel room with three(3) double beds for $73 a night in South Ashland wiiiiiiith....free wireless internet! And air conditioning. It's nothing fancy, but it is fantabulous for the price and at the last minute.

Lots of hippies, here. Some selling sage. I've never been offered a roll o' sage before.

Good to see you've scored some keen seats- sometimes the Impromptu Trip has benefits that far exceed the simple "Get Lost" factor. Were the Hippies Smelling of Patchouli? Y'know sage is good for driving away Evil Spirits, Man....

I've never heard of a hotel room with three beds in it. Is it a suite?

I wouldn't call it a suite, but it had three double beds in it, a small mini micro, and a teeny fridge.

I've not been in a lot of small town motels, either. So I don't know how this fits into the standards of motels across america. :-)
