...is quite lovely, I must confess.

Many unique shops watch over the brick-lined sidewalks and streets of downtown Lodi. It has that charming small-town feel, yet laden with modern conveniences, and decidedly vacant of horse-drawn carriages and their accompanying refuse.

[livejournal.com profile] taogrl took me down there for a lovely lunch at the Movie-Lover's Grill (I think that's what it was called). It's loaded with fun movie props. Then we meandered over to Tom's Used Books, and roamed the previously owned book-lined rows finding treasures. Lurking among the stacks were lazy, cuddly bookstore cats. Store cats kick one's shopping experience up a notch.

While passing by the history section, I noticed they put Rush Limbaugh's "See, I told you so" in the history section. (!!) I screwed up my face and noted that in the bookstore of my dreams, I would create a section called "Bullshit" and put his books and their ilk in that section.

I got a wee-haul of stuff:

Delta of Venus by Anais Nin
The Outline of History by HG Wells
Five Fates, five unique short stories based on the same subject matter. Frank Herbert and Harlan Ellison write two of them
I Have No Mouth & I must Scream by Harlan Ellison
Treasury of Laughter compiled by Louis Untermeyer (published from 1946)
Suburban Souls by Charles Carrington

Then we shuffled to a little cafe called "Tillies" to peruse our spoils and chat. The weather was delightfully overcast and drizzly. Tonight I am on-call, and have to go into work in a few hours to complete a server upgrade. I think I shall take a nap.

Oh, and because of the cooling of the weather, it's time to bust out the flannel sheets. Rejoice, for flannel is love!

When I lived in Davis my friends and I used to call Lodi 'chode,' because it was on the other side of Sac. Yeah, it was a juvinile pun, but we were proud of it.

Yes, it's not known as a party town. But then, if you spend 14 hours of your day sleeping, who cares what's going on outside? ;-p

Wandeingf through Lodi would put ANYONE in a coma 10 times that long, so I think I did the right thing there.
