Normally, my days proceed in a routine fashion. But today deviated from this routine in many noteworthy ways.

It all started as soon as I woke up. I hopped on the computer to check mail, etc., and received a message from a sassy friend of mine in Australia. He came across some pornography that he thought I would enjoy, and set it up on a server of his so I could download it. I have yet to see it, but even in matters of porn, it's the thought that counts.

So, free porn as soon as I get up. Not a bad harbinger for the day.

Next step: to acquire the cakes for my mother as promised. I make it to the bakery on time and while waiting in line and letting my eyes dreamily dance over the many fine delectables in the bakery, someone recognizes me in line and says hello.

It's the woman in whose honor I was procuring the cakes. Crap! This was supposed to be a surprise for her! And here I was ahead of her in line! Furthermore, the cakes were in the name of one of her employees, so she would probably put two and two together if she saw me pick up the cakes. I look at her, and the delectables. And her again. I spin out of line and say, I just can't decide yet and then approach this woman to make idle chit chat and stand behind her. Meanwhile I constructed a true, yet suddenly made alibi.

The plan: to buy pastries for my unit. This would ensure that I'll be tied up picking pastries while said future surprise cake recipient makes her purchase and leaves.

Sure enough, everything proceeded as planned. (And yes, I did form my fingers to make the evil genius' tent of fingers.) Minus the sixteen bucks I paid for pastries. But, I like to keep surprises, so it was worth it.

Next, the morning was spent with more wireless access point shenanigans. Then a lunch run for the coworker from Norfolk who is leaving tomorrow morning. The morning whizzes by in a non-standard blur.

Then a little freakout occures with a little laptop project planned for next week. It takes a few hours to straighten out that mess.

Overlapping with sudden and annoying project scope-creep, I get a call from my garage door company. I had assumed that they were calling to set up an appointment to install my new garage door. No, that wasn't it at all. Apparently, they thought I was scheduled for today and already performed the repair.

!!!!
Okay, so what they lack in planning, they make up for in service. I can't believe they did the work while I was gone. I am still not too pleased with that. But, the work appears good. Now I just need to get that door spray painted a color that matches my house. How did they open the garage to perform the repairs, you ask? Well, as "luck" would have it, my garage stopped closing on its own around Monday of this week. So I had to disengage it from the automagic opener and close the door manually. This also meant the door was free from being locked. Oops. My bad.

Finally, the workday ended and I took my Norfolk friend out to dinner with a few other friends from work. We had a grand time, but we ended up chatting much longer than I thought.

I came home with concern that my garage work either wasn't done at all, or done poorly. So far, the new garage looks great.

Assuming this garage continues to be a great door, I shall not remain pissed that they failed to schedule an appointment with me.

Now to sleep. Goodnight, folks!

Thanks for my first laugh-out-loud moment of the day!
