I just don't understand

The people who agree with the above sentiment don't want to live in a country where you can choose how you wish to live. They want to live in a country where they are right and everyone else is fodder for the rapture.
I hope Joan Chittister is right. I hope this is just a "silly" prohibitionistic phase that we can work out of.
