So, I've needed to finish this area off for a while. Here are the before and after shots.

I'm happy with it. It matches the rest of my cabinetry, and it finishes off the living room.

What kind of TV is that? Plasma?

I wish! No, it's a rear projection hdtv. Much more affordable for me. At the time I bought it, I couldn't see myself paying 3-4,000 dollars on a television. This one was about $1400 at the time, which was pretty expensive enough.

Plasma TVs are wicked expensive and the resolution isn't great and burn-in is a big problem. I guess DLP or LCoS is the way to go. I'm certainly not going to pay $6k for an 30" LCD TV.
