Nov. 19th, 2002 11:01 pmI might get to bed at a decent hour tonight. Then again, I might not.
I think I shall, however, for I am rather sleepy.
How many geeklets playing Dark Ages of Camelot also are watching Cspan at the same time? At least one. This helps explain why I died so often in RvR.
A friend came over and we watched "Winter Sleepers" last night. It was reasonably good. I still like Run, Lola Run the best, however.
Youngman G called. He is doing well. Though he's working his bum off. Poor guy. I think he's smarter than the job he has, hopefully I can encourage him to snap out of his daze and get more focussed.
Robert Fisk is on C-span, talking about Saddam and the time when the U.S. supported Saddam when they were fighting Iran. I like the point he makes, "Saddam has never changed. He has always been a mass-murderer. But back then, we didn't care."
In addition, he breaks down the strategic significance of ousting Saddam, and getting control of his oil. Having control of Iraq's oil could have an impact on Saudi Oil prices(to our benefit of course). Apparently one of Russia's oil companies is in D.C. having talks with the Americans. Perhaps Russia is being offered part of the oil pie.
Fisk says, "If Iraq only produced Tulips, I doubt we would try to invade them."
Earlier, Jimmy Carter and Rosilyn Carter were being interviewed. Numerous issues were discussed, but what stuck out was how many other countries are more generous in foreign aid than we are. For every dollar we might give in foreign aid, Norway might have contributed 17.
We're selfish pricks. We support madmen governments that later bite us in the ass, and then we ignore folks who might actually need it.
