A shout of joy was heard from the crowd outside the hospice when news of the House bill's passage came. Among those cheering was David Bayly, 45, of Toledo, Ohio: "I'm overjoyed to see the vote and see Terri's life extended by whatever amount God gives her."

You know, I think it's pretty fascinating when Politicians, often regarded as rather immoral, and utilitarian, are mistaken for God. I know, I know, the faithful might say that God's will was being carried out by these Politicians. Well, I think it is just as likely that God removed Terri's feeding tube. Or God found that Terri was in a persistent vegetative state. Why is it that certain religious groups are so crazy about defending the lives of organisms that really don't "live" a fulfulling life? And why is it these groups seem more content to invade other countries and kill innocent children and families for democracy? We'll err on the side of life for a vegetable, but not for people who are islamic and in the Middle East?

And now our tax dollars have been tied up the past week with this? How bad at financial mismanagement can these Republicans be?

Well, it wasn't just the Republicans who did this - the House vote was 203-58, and many Democrats sided with Republicans in approving the federal court hearing. That said, it's likely a political move on both sides. After all, who wants to be known around his or her home district as the politician who voted to kill a defenseless woman? Right or wrong, I bet that's how a lot of them look at it.

Politics aside, this should never have lasted 15 years, and that's the part that makes me the saddest. They should have let her gone in peace years ago and be done with it. The spectacle that this whole thing has become is horrible.

Just my $0.02.

True, it's not just Republicans voting, but yes, the political agenda is what's sad here. Though Democrats voted in favor of this, it's a charge that's Republican driven, starting back with Jeb Bush getting involved. Time and again, the courts say, "let her die", and yet Operation Rescue, and sundry Republicans are keeping this case going. It's definitely pandering to the religious, here. I think the Democrats supporting this are trying to pander to the same religious group the Republicans are, unfortunately.

I agree, it should not have lasted this long. I don't know what these people think they are going to get out of this. I guess they are hoping for a miracle. Do they think her bulemia will go away when her mind magically recovers? Will she get a job at Walmart as a greeter? What? It is so very cruel and sad.

I wish the reincarnation people would step in and chant, "Give reincarnation a chance! Let her soul be recycled!" She sure as heck deserves a better life than this.
