On cakes and such

Okay, here's a slice of Anne's shopping life.
Prologue:
Previously, as evidenced by an earlier post, our heroine went and ferreted out a Sunday Paper to acquire a lovely 40% off coupon for cake supplies. Her mission, to go to Michael's and buy a 101 piece cake kit that would provide all she would need for her current and future cake courses at a reasonable price.
Chapter I:
Anne alighted from her Prius in front of the Elk Grove Michael's, armed with her paper slip of great savings (coupon), and her wallet. With much mild-mannered and subdued joy, she swaggered into the store and sauntered over to the Cake decorating aisle.
It wasn't there. Her her coveted cake kit of many pieces. Out. Sold. Out.
"Well, nuts!" Anne thought, "I have this coupon, but Michaels isn't coughing up the desired merchandise. Now I have to drive all the way over to Natomas to get the kit. Ooooh."
Anne's gaze turned to the cadillac of cake-decorator gear, the Tilt-a-whirl*. Previously, that had been rather expensive to purchase. But it tilts while it spins! And here she had a 40% coupon. So...
Chapter II:
After finishing her purchase, Anne hopped over to Border's to get yet another Sunday Paper. Success! With a second chance at 40% off, Anne hit the road to Natomas Michael's, where she did find the necessary equipage for her cake class. All told, she saved $75. Minus two Sunday papers and less than a gallon of gas.
Now I'm home, and I must take care of chores and perhaps make a test cake in anticipation of more frosting fun this Thursday! I also have a laptop to upgrade...
In other news, this was an interesting little Editoral about South Park Conservatives from the New York Times.
There's talk of playing Pimp: The Backhanding with some friends tonight, as well...
*It's actually called a Titling Turntable, but that's not as fun to say.
