Okay, Cake Decorating Skills before the class

Okay, so I did this cake to see my skills before they are honed. And boy are they ever not honed!



Notice the uneven nature of the frosting.
Notice I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to flowers.
Notice the lax borders.
Notice my flowers are slightly to the right of center, just like the swing voters in the last presidential election.

My hands feel tired. Chronic masturbators got nuthin' on cake frosters. By the end of my classes, I'll have a kung fu grip, alright. The cake inside is a strawberry cake, with a lemon curd layer between the cake layers.

So, I'll try to keep track of the cakes I make, and I can see whether or not I've improved.

Yes, it tastes pretty decent, though it's not truly homemade (I used box cake). So it's not at its pinnacle of flavor, but I wanted to spend more time frosting than baking the cake, so I cut some corners. Still, it tastes good. :-)
