Today I finished making cakes for
taogrl's birthday party. Now that she's seen them, and her guests have consumed them, here are the cake details.
The first cake was a basic two layer cake. I used a carrot cake recipe from recipezaar.com. I did shell borders, rosettes, and roses.

I parted from what I've been taught about classy cake decorating and wrote a quote on the perimeter of the cake. The full quote is, "We are all born naked and screaming and if you're lucky that sort of thing won't stop there." Why did I add the quote? Because I thought
taogrl would be amused by it.
The next cake was more personal for
taogrl. I created decorations that represent some her qualities and preferences.

So, we have the Eiffel Towers made out of royal icing and placed as the centerpiece of the cake. On the side, you see the yin-yangs. Four of them are located around the cake. Also, you see the screamer from Munch's the scream. Based on this, you can safely surmise that
taogrl loves Paris and travel, is a taoist, and enjoys art. At least, that's what you're supposed to surmise. Furthermore, she loved the Scream.
You may ask yourself, "Is that lime green and fuschia rope borders on the bottom of the cake? Yes, it is. these happen to be two of
taogrl's favorite colors. Let the record reflect that when she came over to borrow my disco ball for the party tonight, she was wearing a shirt that matched the lime green frosting on this cake.
I'll talk about the party later, for it was a nice little event. But now, I must sleep.
