I've been hearing a lot lately about antioxidants and free radicals, blah blah blah. Green tea, cranberries, red grapes and dates are foods and beverages that supposedly contain antioxidants which is good for fighting cancer and heart disease.

I had been musing to myself last week that since Green tea has been boasting antioxidants, the coffee industry would soon come out with a study claiming that coffee has antioxidants, too.

Sure enough, they just came out with one.

How far will this go? I wonder if butter will be found to contain antioxidants?

Now, to be fair, the study was sponsored by the American Cocoa Research Institute, not coffee folks.

A study may prove that coffee has antioxidants, and other studies may have shown that antioxidants combat free radicals, however as far as I have seen there has been no consensus that combatting free radicals actually means anything. Drink it for the caffeine. >:)
