Okay, I have two cakes baked for my friend J's 40th birthday party. One I shall decorate in fine Over-the-Hill fashion. I have some time to hit some drums before my drum lesson, then back home to frost the flagship cake. The "flagship" cake is going to be yellow cake with raspberry whipped cream filling and raspberry frosting. The second cake will be a simple spice cake with cream cheese filling and crumbled candied ginger on top.

Must think of Over the hill things to decorate on the cake...I may just go the classy black roses route...

Hope you had fun! I want cake photos when you can! Black roses sound cool...but take my word for it that it's a bitch to make dark black frosting, even with black gel food coloring and starting with chocolate frosting. See the recent Minnie Mouse cake I made, which took an entire bottle of gel coloring to get the batch of frosting that black!
