Server repair went badly tonight. Badly.

Left for work at 9:30am. Return from work 4am...the next day.

Problem still not solved.

Drove home thinking how bad things are while listening to "How Good it Can Be"...

Back to work at 8am. It's the physical security server that's on the blink. Not good at all, kiddies.

I hope y'all are having luck far superior to my own these days. Normally my luck is quite good, so I'm not too huffy about getting the royal shaftola.

Now to sleep.

Oh that sucks. The only major problem I had this week was our tape drive on the user's home directory server ate a tape. Thankfully it was a Dell and they had it fixed in 15 minutes flat.

I feel for you. Was it a total server crash, or a service?

It was supposed to be a simple card swap. We lost connection to 12 security badge locations in one of our buildings. We back tracked and validated that it was not a bad card or cable. somehow this swap cause a failure somewhere in one of the cards at the security console (other end of the communication, the server being one side), or some fiber in between. We've stabilized the situation now, but we haven't truly isolated the problem yet.

Those are the worse types to troubleshoot.
