Not an exciting day, but a good one.

I purchased some new music today, as a result of viewing Austin City limits on Saturday Night:

# 1 of: Give Up, by The Postal Service (featuring the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie)
# 1 of: Oh, Inverted World [ENHANCED] by the Shins (This has been a long time coming)
# 1 of: We Will Become Silhouettes [CD-SINGLE] by The Postal Service
# 1 of: Plans by Death Cab for Cutie
# 1 of: Get Behind Me Satan by the White Stripes (I've been meaning to purchase this one for a while, too)
# 1 of: Z by My Morning Jacket. Sure, they look like hillbillies from Kentucky, but their music is mesmerizing.

I'm almost finished reading "Wicked". I enjoy it quite a bit. I look forward to seeing the musical when it comes 'round.

Oh, Inverted World is a great album. If you like it, pick up their second, Chutes Too Narrow. It's just as good, and in my opinion, better.

Aye. The power of Shins compelled me when I listened to the Garden State Soundtrack. :)

Wicked

I liked the book (I got the sequel Son of a Witch in hardback right before I moved, so it's still yet to be read, but I'm very curious about that one, especially since I am a rabid original Baum Oz fan, so I can pick at a lot of the details & really enjoy how he's twisted them around), and I liked the musical, but fair warning that great liberties have been taken so the musical is more "inspired by" the book rather than an adaptation. As long as you're prepared to take them as independent art forms, similar to how the Wizard of Oz movie is SO different from the original book too, you'll be fine. The musical is still definitely worth seeing IMO...is it coming to Sac anytime soon? It was in SF this past summer but it left already.

If you like Wicked, try the others...Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister was also good, and I've also purchased but not yet read Mirror, Mirror. He also has a completely original plot novel called Lost that was interesting as well. Happy reading!

The last time I looked, it is not coming to Sacramento any time soon. I must wait, or travel for it. :-)

I'll eventually look into the others. I have a stack o' books to read through yet. :-)

I tried reading "Wicked," but just couldn't get into it. Probably because I'm not a big fan of fantasy, even the humorous kind.
