Of Shelving and Potstickers

I managed to get some sorting out of my study. I got rid of a trash baggy of stuff I no longer need to keep. I need to do more, but it's a start. I also measured out the area I want to reorganize.

I had pondered getting a whole additional computer desk that would be a corner unit with doors so I could close off the computer.

Upon reflection, a corner unit desk would limit me in future monitor purchases. Truthfully, I want my next monitor purchase to be at least a 24" flat panel, and that could be a little touchy in a corner unit desk setup.

So I decided on a pure shelving solution. I will acquire some modular shelves from Ikea. I decided I liked the simplicity of the Billy Line.

All the shelves will be 79" tall, at least. But I'll probably add on extension shelves to get storage as high up to the ceiling as possible.
I will get:
-1 15.75" wide shelf.
-2 31.5" shelves
-1 Corner Unit shelf, projecting 23.625 inches
-5 Doors that will cover the bottom half of the non corner shelves above.
-1 matching CD Tower.

The trick will be getting this home. The prius won't quite be long enough to fit all the shelving. I think I will arrange for delivery, which will probably run me some cash. See what I can find out. Without taxes and delivery, I'm looking at about $450 for the shelves.

I made this decision while browsing at Ikea with taogrl. I will be going with the white shelves.


In other news, I made Cook's Illustrated's Potsticker recipe. They were quite good. I need to perfect the amount of water required for steaming however...that or work on the temperature during steaming. I also became a little more proficient on my stuff 'n wrap dexterity. Their dipping sauce is tasty, too, though I didn't put in the sesame oil, since I forgot to buy some. Still, it was nummy. I froze some uncooked potstickers for another time.

After my Potsticker hijinx, I watched North Country. It was like Erin Brockovich with the accents from Fargo. Charlize was good, but I think Reese still deserved the Oscar she won for Best Actress. Reese was destined for an Oscar since Freeway.

I don't think I commented on Battlestar Galactica's season Finale. I loved it. Especially all the bad hair. We didn't see what happened to the bitter "They killed my baby!" Sharon, yet, But Hilo was still around. And yet Number 6 and New Sharon are now on New Caprica. I shall speculate some things I think will occur:
-Starbuck's hubby will kick the bucket.
-Number 6 and New Sharon's loyalties to the cylons will be split with their love of humans. I'm not sure if both of them will serve the human cause, or if it will be a split. I wonder if the scene of Number 6 and Gaius holding the baby will come to fruition, as they will be in physical proximity of each other once again, and their mutual love of each other is apparent. Those two deserve each other, two. Both scheming little shits. If they don't redeem themselves, I hope they both poison each other after some fight over the disposition of the toilet seat in their apartment culminates in some erotically charged paranoid mutual assassination attempts.
-Will season 4 be the season of Starbuck and Apollo? I sure hope so.
-Dualla will become restless with Apollo and move on to Hilo. I figure she's trying to bag all the men of Galactica. Actually, if I took the time to do a chart of who has slept with whom...woof. That would have a lot of cross-over. This show totally needs gay couples, though.
