[livejournal.com profile] taogrl and I returned home from seeing Guster in San Francisco not too long ago.

Our trip was moderately interesting. First we got a tad lost. The new Nav System upgrade I installed had some unpredictable bugs to it. It's not a deal breaker, yet, but it wasn't quite behaving as I had hoped.

We made it to the City and hopped around the MOMA for a few hours. This was delightful. Some of Calder's surrealist work was on display. I really enjoyed his mobiles and staybiles. The Surrealist Photography exhibit was impressive, too.

One freaky chunk o' trivia:
One of the surrealistic photographer's name was Ralph Eugene Meatyard. Meatyard. He was born in Normal, Illinois. His initials are REM, which is simply cool. But a surrealist in Normal? How much fun is that? And Normal, IL? How much more fun is that?!?

No wonder the guy was a fa-reak. Though his work was good.

We took a bus to the Fillmore and ate at the Thai restaurant, A Taste of Thai, across the street from the theatre. The food was delicious. We shared pineapple fried rice and sweet basil chicken. Mango and sticky rice for desert. Fried Bananas and Ice cream, too.

After a big dinner, we rolled over to wait in line to get in the theatre.

I found the Fillmore to be an excellent venue. It was the first time I had been there. They serve food and drinks throughout the evening.

As for the music: Pilotdrift opened up for Guster. I liked them, [livejournal.com profile] taogrl did not like them so much. However, I do have their CD, now. And these boys are hot little musicians. Too bad they are 13 years younger, from Texarkana, and well, involved with other women.

Guster did magnificently. I'm looking forward to their next album.

Tomorrow, we drive to Portland for Round Two o' Guster, as well as Portlandish tourism.

Now, to sleep.
