I had to be pried out of bed this morning, despite the fact that my internal clock played a nasty trick on me and had me wake up at 7am. I managed to nap for another 2 hours, thankfully.

Coffee is procured and being absorbed. My packing list is formulated. I just need to actually pack (goes quickly with the list), clean out the litterbox and hit the road to pick up [livejournal.com profile] taogrl

9 hours up to Portland.

If anyone has any recommendations on things to see/eat while in Portland for a few days, help a sista out.

So far:
Powell's
Roseland Theater (for Guster!)
Perhaps the Portland Art Museum

Of course, Kennedy School has a restaurant and pub on site, so if that's tasty, we might not need much else. :-)

The same company that does the Kennedy School also has a few other restaurant/hotel/brewery combinations, including a psych-center

I love Portland! My sister lives there, and across my visits I have come to love the following places (should you have the time and inclination to check any of them out):

1. Southpark Seafood Grill & Wine Bar - excellent tapas-style food. Can be a bit pricey, but if you are looking to treat yourself, it's hard to beat. 901 SW Salmon Street.

2. The Hawthorne District has lots of funky stores, restaurants, theatres, etc. and is quite fun for an afternoon stroll.

3. If you are the outdoorsy type, or just looking for a pretty place to chill, I would also recommend either Mt. Tabor Park or the Japanese Garden (http://www.japanesegarden.com/). Both are absolutely gorgeous.

Have a fantastic trip!!

There's an awesome Thai restaurant on NE Broadway. The name changes all the time, but it's on the northside of the street near 15th Avenue (Google says it's called Chai Yo. I was there last December and I think that's right).

If you've got the money, check out Jake's Seafood. It's downtown.

Rocco's Pizza by Powell's is pretty good and is cheap.

Drive out to Multnomah Falls. It'll take about an hour from Portland and is the tallest waterfall in North America.

The Metro Oregon Zoo is pretty nice, if you're into animals.
