Well, that tears it, folks. I'm no longer in a committed relationship with my coffee pot. I'm in the market for a new one. Any of y'all have any recommendations?

I'd love to know what your favorite coffee machine is.

Maybe I should go for broke and get some barrista-class ...behemoth...

Anyone try those vacuum type makers?

We have the Starbucks Aroma Grande, and we're quite happy with it. :-) It has a wakeup timer and the carafe is vacuum-sealed so you don't get that burnt taste. It's a little pricey (around $80-100ish) but it's the best one I've run across.

Thanks for the recommendation!

How's the weather up in Seattle today?

I love love love my Cuisinart machine. It has a water filter (which is pricey, but worth it), and makes one damn fine cuppa.

If you find one that doesn't leak half the time, I'd be interested in knowing, too. I love the fact that my coffee pot is stainless and therefore unbreakable (not the machine, just the pot). But it leaks. 75% oof the time I find coffee on the counter as well as in the pot. I have no idea why.

"two tears in a bucket,...." Ha! reminds me of my friend, Nick. He taught me that phrase.

I got that phrase from the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". Which, is a good book(and movie), in my humble opinion. A classic character by the name of Lady Chablis (a transvestite performer) had two very fun quotes.

1) "Two tears in a bucket, motherfuckit"

and
2) "If you like my performance, my name is Lady Chablis. If you don't like my performance, my name is Nancy Reagan and you can kiss my ass ."

I find them both therapeutic. Though be sure to either use your real name when paraphrasing #2 above, or change your name to Lady Chablis.

ha! I read that book and love it.. and Miss Chablis lives in West Columbia, SC, where I lived until I moved to DC in '97. and yes.. I love that phrase.. When I read it in the book it was the first time I'd read it and though it was something Nick made up! ha!

I completely love my pod coffeemaker. It's a good way to get a lot of variety out of your coffee experience by buying different pods. They no longer make mine, but I believe Merita makes a good one.

We recently got a Cuisinart thermal carafe machine and it's been wonderful so far (I can get you more specifics if you're interested). I also love the Capresso thermal carafe machine. A friend of mine just replaced her 4th bodum with something else after it crapped out again.
