Saturday:
Started out well. Had an overwhelming sense of exhaustion and malaise. I thought nothing of it and went to drum lessons as normal. Talked to [livejournal.com profile] taogrl after my lessons and we agreed to go see X-men 3 later on.

Feeling of malaise intensified and localized in abdominal region. I knew that I was going to be in for an interesting evening. When I say "interesting", it means there will be at least one episode of fountain barfing followed by desire for the release that death will bring. However, I wasn't there, yet, and I wanted to see that movie, so off we went.

I enjoyed X-men. I never read the comics to such an extent where I would grouse about how they treated the characters. I did laugh my ass off at the scenes involving the GG Bridge. What a bunch of horse-puckey. Magneto was clearly compensating for...something.

Before returning home, we bought some Gatorade. [livejournal.com profile] taogrl left and I settled in for my "interesting" evening, which went exactly as anticipated. I whiled away my convalescence with watching the first three discs of season 1 of "24". I enjoyed it, yet rejoiced that I hadn't watched it over an entire 6 month period.

Sunday:
After a partially rested, then partially restful night, I woke up feeling "like new". I ate some light foods, rejoiced at keeping them down, and was ready to do something interesting. I called [livejournal.com profile] taogrl up and invited her along on my investigation of Oroville, CA. Pictures are available here.

I had never driven through Oroville, and I thought it a good opportunity to check the area out. My next goal will be to go to Feather Falls up there, where a 10 mile loop hike to and from the falls awaits me and any lucky guests who want to go along. It's about 94 miles north from Elk Grove, CA.

Now I'm updating livejournal while watching an old Veronica Mars episode on my computer. I'm enjoying the debate Mac has with a fellow computer nerd of OsX versus Ubuntu. Hilarious.

I hope everyone else's weekend went marvelous!

Wow, this "[Bad username in LJ tag]" has all the fun. Is that a Unitarian Jihad name? Witness Protection Program? :)

Woops. One " shy of a pair. It's fixed now.

Since no one has discovered my crimes, yet, there's no need for her to enter the WPP. ;-)

I was reminded, briefly, of my former co-worker Jen. She started working part-time in the sports desk, then became full-time after she graduated, until she got sick of the place and left.

Since we didn't know any of her friends, she didn't bother using real names for anyone. "I was out with Boy and Other Boy and Girl, and then Doofus showed up. He used to date Girl..."

She also thought NASCAR and NASCAR fans were as absurd as I do -- we both called it "Nastycar" -- and she referred to Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. as "Stupid" and "Little Stupid."

Jen definitely had a way with precise language. That's why she's in law school now, I guess.

Sounds like Jen and I would get along swimmingly.

I'm rather intrigued by the upcoming Will Ferrell movie, "Talladega Nights", where he plays the NASCAR driver, Ricky Bobby. It looks like it's going to pick on race car drivers quite nicely. You can see a preview of it here.

Yeah, I'll be seeing that. Though the main draw for me is Sacha Baron Cohen, star of Da Ali G Show, playing a gay French race car driver.

Yeah, that too is pure goodness.

I went to (and graduated from, in 1972) Marysville High School. Back then, it was the only public high school in all of Yuba County. It has a few new buildings now, but still looks much as it did then.
