I find it rather tragic that the prince and princess of Tonga were killed by an 18 year old in a mustang in San Francisco recently. The 18 year old was driving 100mph while racing another vehicle. Even sadder is that the Prince and Princess were seeking to reform the Tongan government and appeared to be well- loved by their people.

At what point is it ever a good idea to race someone at 100 mph in an area that is populated by people? Tonga's nation was just derailed by a 18 year-old punk in a Ford! What the hell is up with that?

Sure, sure. Accidents happen. But this was downright irresponsible. It defies ignorance. I cannot believe that a rational, thoughtful individual would choose to engage in such behavior. More than likely, she was not raised to think about the consequences of her behavior.

Let it be known henceforth: try to keep your mistakes within the speed limit.

By the way, I see that the issue of WMD discoveries in Iraq has flared up again. Except it's not really conclusive. But I think that it's a valiant effort to distract us from the nations that actually do have WMD.

As I read it, it was on 101 near/in Menlo Park. Not exactly in the city, but still...just seems stupid. *sigh*

I swear I heard W last week saying something about how diplomacy takes time, we need to be patient with North Korea. *blink* Diplomacy? Patience? I didn't think he knew those words.

Ok accident's do happen, and I agree with you, in that it is downright irresponsible, and the driver is an asshat. however do you think you would have heard about it if it was just a normal couple that was run down and killed?
would you have botherd posting if it was an average Mr & mrs jo that was killed in the accident?

I know that if it was a normal couple I would never have heard about it. Even if I did, I would most likely have thought it was a little sad and moved on, not giving it anymore thought. Which in itself is a little sad.

As it is I'm starting to not care that much about it. except on the fact that maybe something might have to be done to prevent this kind of thing happening again. but that would lead to things like speed bumps and other traffic calming measures which just enrage drivers.

I promise you, next time I'm considering doing something risky in traffic, I will check carefully for royalty first.

While the DVP/404 doesn't tend to ionvite Royalty, we have lost a lot of innocent people to this very thing. A law has been proposed that no driver under the age of 21 may be driving with anyone NOT a family member also under the age of 21. Not sure how well that one will work.
