Aug. 26th, 2006 05:43 pmNot a dull day, per se.
And yet, not quite rock 'n roll.
I didn't get to sleep until 2:30am. After working until 11pm, I was still up and at 'em, so I killed time by killing evil-doers on City of Heroes along with
newbabel. Yes, that's right, I can say with good authority that I kept
newbabel up until 5:30am EST. However, no real animals were actually harmed in the process.
I woke up just before 9am and noodled on the drums a bit, then headed to the lesson. My teacher had recently seen a thought provoking collection of footage from Hurricane Katrina. I'm not sure if it's from a dvd that's been out, or something that's about to come out. Anyway, he was quite appalled, and hot to talk about our current political environment. He's not a U.S. Citizen, so he's got a bit of the stink eye for the United States. Not that we're terrible per se. But it's the sort of disappointment that one has for someone who is capable of so much, and yet does so little. It is a tragedy here, in that regard. There's a lot more to be discussed about this, but the problem of poverty is a vexing one for our nation.
So, after some actual lessons and a political do-si-do, I ran off to my hair appointment, and spent 3 hours reading, getting my hair cut and colored, and then coordinating a little response for a power outage my place of work experienced. Yes, I'm on-call wench this weekend, and so I was quite fortunate to be receiving a call from my boss while the big hair-dryer helmet was poised upon my head, doing its part in the magic that is hair coloration.
Fortunately, the power outage had no lasting consequences for our systems. Everything came up and I didn't have to rush out of the salon with my hair up in foil sheets in order to save our equipment.
And now I am home. Since my arrival, I've straightened up the kitchen, vacuumed, done some laundry, spruced up the guest bathroom and sorted out the living room a bit. Why? My mother is on her way over to see her grandcats, since they are the closest she has to grandchildren. (and I'm alright with that) Now I'm watching soccer on Setanta Sports and relaxing a wee bit.
