Dragoncon I: the Wrath of Con

Today was fairly delighful. It commenced with a morning coffee run to Starbucks. I had 4 Starbucks gift cards purveyed to me at work over the past year, so I'm using it up by buying coffee for my friends here. When I'm at home, I'm all about the Peet's.
I ran into
big_ragu,
dslartoo and had lunch with him, which was very cool.
I caught a few panels: Monkey talk, hosted by
shimaera and
kingofbreakfast. It was a very casual, yet fun event.
Subsequently, I met up with
ariedana and we saw "Crossing the Pond", about travelling to England on affordable wages.
kingofbreakfast told me about a book he's rereading, "The Circus of Dr. Lao". Like many things, I've managed to go through nearly 35 years without knowing about this book. It's quite fascinating. I was pondering what the actual history of Circuses are. The circus is such a huge medium for the exotic, mysterious and mythical. Considering HBO's recent series, "Carnivale", there's no sign of that notion disappearing.
I topped off the evening with a visit to
vernard and
zorathenne and wished a pre-birthday to
firewalker138. Then I hustled back to my room to slumber.
The tragedy was that I took many photos and videos yesterday, and lost them all. I'm most disappointed about that, as I'm not sure how they were all deleted. Crap.
Anyway, all in all, it was a great day. On to day two!
