I know I've complained about the paucity of good solid news reporting this past week, what with all the Anna Nicole Smith issues. All around the world, the beat goes on. And the complexly sad legal battle over Anna Nicole Smith is obscured by Britney goes all "Sinead o' Cranberries" and shaves her head. But Anna Nicole Smith seems to be obscuring more important like what's going on in Congress.

So, some other interesting tidbits around the world:
1. Sounds like thousands of Italians don't want the U.S. to expand our military presence there. Maybe if our troops dressed like centurions they'd feel more comfortable.


2. We should be hearing more about "vulture funds" which are hurting developing nations.

It appears to be some American Business men that are buying debt that's about to be forgiven and then suing the poor government who owes the money. Just imagine if someone did that to us.

This issue was originaly brought to my attention during a Democracy Now! interview.

It appears when that legally, these vulture funds have enough of a case that they are able to win settlements of debt that was supposedly to be written off. Why the debt is allowed to be sold when the intent is to write it off, I do not know. But I do agree that further impoverishing nations is not a good thing.

3. Since new security measures came into effect, Baghdad appears safe as it ever was.


In other news, I had a hideous dream last night. I was trying to use the bathroom at work and every stall I attempted to find was filthy-disgusting. I won't go into details, but let's just say I nearly wept for the poor janitorial staff that would be tasked with cleaning the bathroom that night. I don't know why I was dreaming about toilets and work, and that disturbs me more than the foul images I saw in every stall.

Today's plans...varied. Right now I'm watching "8 Below", which involves tragically cold temperatures in Antarctica and the huskies that get stuck there. I think I'm going start getting verklempt.

I CONTINUALLY have that very dream!

And, believe me, my dirty toilet imagination while asleep knows no bounds.

All I can figure out is that I only dream toilets/dirty stalls when I have to pee while asleep.
