First off, I'm still grieving for the loss of Starbuck. I hope to hell she comes back. I love-love-loved her character. I hope they bring her back before a bunch of Starbuck fans assume the fetal position and wither away while listening to Guster's "Come Downstairs and Say Hello". I was getting Verklempt along with Admiral Adama when he was tearing up over Starbuck.

So while various crew members and BSG fans are choking back whimpers and shedding restrained tears, the BSG powers-that-be toss us a tasty morsel to try to distract us. Mark Sheppard as Romo Lampkin. I was captivated by him. And yes, the accent has to do with approximately 25% of my entranced stare while the show was playing. But also I was wondering where I had seen him before. I know he's been in a number of shows but what?

However, I wasn't so obsessed that I found out who he was right away. I finally just got around to looking him up on imdb.

I discovered one show where I had seen him before quite serendipitously this afternoon. I brought Firefly to the gym while I worked out. I was watching the first episode on disc 1, "Serenity", when lo' and behold! He was in that episode! You will also have known this fellow if you kept track of Medium, and the recurring killer Dr. Charles Walker (and later Jack Walker). Why doesn't this man have his own show?

I could interpret this as some sort of destiny. But it's the picayune type of destiny. He's not my true love, this isn't the start of some fabulous new direction in my life. This type of twist of fate ranks up there with finding the missing sock and completing the pair. I'll take it.

Anyway, as [livejournal.com profile] scarcrest said, this guy was fantastic.

Just wait until he steals Adama's keys to the ship. Then calamity will ensue.

Do you know about the ship Adama trashed at the end of the Maelstrom episode?

I don't think I do.

Yeah... Adama often will make many the ad-lib on that show. Unfortunately, that whole scene of him wrecking the ship was an ad-lib. I say unfortunately, because the prop-ship was a model on loan from the museum... and he smashed it up...

The most expensive ad-lib on television... as they had to pay a pretty penny for the damage done.

Also... Starbuck will be back as she is Ron Moore's favorite character... and he plans on doing something with the crystal ships (if you recall them from old Galactica).

The scene is amazing... he puts the figure on the bow of the ship and then he loses it! Such a great scene... obviously, he didn't know the ship was anything more than a prop.

Oh that's right! I do remember that scene. I think I blocked it out because it was such a gorgeous ship.

That moment made the episode. And gave the propmaster a heart attack, from what I hear. Talk about someone bound up in a fetal position...

That isn't a spoiler... I'm just guessing that Starbuck will be back and that she'll come back in some re-invention of the crystal ships...

I'm one of those BSG people whimpering on the floor, and I still knew who Mark Sheppard was right away. Of course, there's a good reason I refer to myself as The TV Slut.
