Holy Flaming Trestles!

So we have a huge fire burning its way out here in Sacramento.

Here's some local coverage of the event.

As the article says, train service is going to be down for some time, and this should disrupt train traffic through Northern California.

The blaze started around 5:45pm here, and was located within a mile from where I work. In fact, I would have driven past this area.

Funny thing: I had today off. Had I worked, I would have been in the area 15 minutes into the blaze, during the tail end of rush hour traffic. And I'm off tomorrow. I will be spared any immediate impact of this fire. How convenient is that? It's very convenient. I've been playing domestic deadbeat all day.

Man, I hope not. It's going to cause a lot of problems for the rail business here in this state. I hope it was a triggered by a small alien race whose spaceship landed below the trestles and they started it by accident! ;-)
