Ah, but the rate increase is for unlimited store exchanges--his rate will be the same if he switches to a five-store-exchanges-a-month plan. Netflix users (including myself) don't even have store exchange as an option, so you can't really compare it, can you?
Of course, we don't need store exchange as an option since Netflix has distribution centers literally everywhere.
I am also a netflixer. In part because of the bad service I'd get from the stores back when I used them to rent movies. Though I will hit them up for their 2 for $20 or 4 for $20 used dvd sales...
Well yeah, Blockbuster is good for used DVD action. I just find I never really want to step into their stores. When the discs eventually just come to me.
I like that NetFlix has lowered my plan price, but they have correspondingly started to throttle me more. I find it hard to believe that the closest copy of Rome Season 2: Disc 2 is in MA (I'm in Silicon Valley). You're telling me that every disc west of the Mississippi is in use? Crazy.
NetFlix could throttle me down to 2 discs per year and $400/month and I would still not choose Blockbuster. Those guys are certified ass-clowns.
I forgot to mention that Blockbuster is/was run by fundamentalist Christians who rent out edited versions of some films. I remember renting one movie (don't remember which), but I had seen it in the theater. I was very confused with the ending until I realized what they had done.
I do dislike Blockbuster, too. I haven't had too many problems with them lately. Every once in a while, something will take too long to ship. I think the Season 2 disc 1 copy of Weeds must have come from Poughkeepsie's distribution center. (though, I have no idea if they have a distribution center there. it's just fun to type "poughkeepsie".)
