So yes, clear thinking induhviduals are boycotting Dixie Chicks music because one of them spoke her mind. What a terrible thing to disparage George Bush.

It's so heartening to see that some will react so quickly to penalize the Dixie Chicks who did no harm save to speak their mind.

I wonder if these same people would boycott Saddam's oil because he's such a vicious monster. Why would we want to buy oil from his country? Certainly, we're not doing it as a whole, since we're his biggest customer. But why would we choose to go to war to kill people, instead of aggressively pursuing fuel alternatives so that we could, in fact, boycott Saddam, and not purchase his oil. Where would the Middle East get their power if we didn't need their oil?

Just a thought.

well, they did do it in a foreign country, on the eve of war, at a venue that had nothing to do with war or bush (a concert).

While I don't think it's particularly disrespectful of the troops, it was in bad taste.

Well, bad taste isn't expressly forbidden in the constitution,alas.

And really, they didn't start a riot, so it's not an issue of public safety (a la shouting "fire" in a movie theatre). Whether they said it in a foreign country on an eve of the war is irrelevant.

I personally stand behind them, I think someone who is in the Public Eye should speak there mind. We all have that right, We all have our own feelings and should be allowed to share them VOICE TO THE PEOPLE is what I say.

I stand behind them, too. Hell, I agree with them. But my support isn't biased. I will let those who disagree with me (it's merely coincidental that in most cases, they are idiots) speak their mind.

Sometimes it does.

However, I rather like the Dixie Chicks. With a song like "Goodbye Earl", how could a scrappy woman like me not like them? Despite it's twang, it is a mighty clever song. They are one of the few country music singers whose music I own.
