I'm trying to read this document throughout my workday.

I'm feeling rather lethargic today. A nap is something I desire greatly. But do I ever take one? Nooo.

Rats.

Bah. I must call my insurance company either tonight or tomorrow.

On the drive home, minding my own business, a rock comes curving up and *whack* leaves a dime-sized starburst of annoyance on my windshield. Fortunately it's in the lower center of my windshield. But still. What a pain in the arse.

It was like a Squirrel from hell threw a rock like a curve-ball.

Feh.

....Here is your theme song, all country style.

A wise friend of mine referred me to Luther Wright and the Wrongs' Broken Fuckin' Heart.

Disk 3, Season 1 of Angel arrived via the elves at Netflix. Joy!

I am saddened that Doyle(Glenn Quinn) only made it for half of a season. I found out he died 3 years after his last official episode as a regular (which is "Hero"). I wonder how he died. What a shame. He was darling.

I keep tabs on a livejournal of an ex friend. He's an ardent conservative, and de-friended me after a lengthy debate he and I had. I took that as an indication that he didn't really enjoy our debates, so I left him alone. However, I still take a peek at what he posts, just because I have a principal called, "Know thy nutjobs." It's always interesting to see how a product of conservative talk-radio or the textual manifestations thereof are going to perceive the issues.

Global warming came up in his journal. I thought I would gather various resources for your perusal should my friends find the issue of interest. He provides some interesting "references" for his views:

www.junkscience.com : What more need be said after you realize that the site's publisher, Steven Milloy, works for the ever-so-fair and balanced Fox News and the Cato Institute. Well there's this(read down to the part about The Trashman Speweth). Additionally, here are some other bits of information that are interesting, though not specific to global warming. Here's an interesting article discussing Milloy's tactics, as well. I find it intriguing that a lot of folks reference and revere junkscience.com, especially since the publisher of it is not a scientist; he's a sensational journalist. Oh, here's another interesting link with even more links..

www.cato.org : Yet another organization that claims to be "non-partisan", though tends to lean towards "Corporatepublican" views, as indicated by this article. Here is some more information on the Cato Institute.

Now I'm not saying that what these sites say is absolutely wrong. However, they still demonstrate a bias. And for someone to use only these sites as the primary support for debunking science is rather weak. It's almost like hearsay. And it's clear their funding sources are folks not necessarily interested in objectivity. As Molly Ivins says, "you've got to dance with them that brung ya."

Here's what the EPA says. Bear in mind that there was a reasonable scandal about the EPA from 2003 regarding the report they issued that eliminated all mention of global warming, despite being addressed in previous years. The site referenced is interesting in that many prominent scientists are outraged at the way the Bush administration is treating environmental issues. On that site is a list of those who have signed this statement "Restoring Scientific Integrity in Policy Making". I mean, if what the skeptics say is so accurate about global warming, why try to compel the EPA to mislead the people on the evidence? Hmmmm? Hmmmm?

Here is a list of the main skeptics of global warming. Some of those mentioned are in fact working with the Cato Institute.
