This anecdote will be completely useless without the sound effects, but here goes ...
One of the morning radio guys here in the Pensacola area (I have no idea which radio station, I don't remember) was doing a bit about how he stopped doing acid because of Rush. He explained that listening to Rush while not on acid was a bit weird as it was, as it definitely had that whole high-pitched thing going on. But on acid, he said, it just sounds like that emergency alert tone on the radio. And really, he continued, even without acid it was only one step away from an Alvin and the Chipmonks Very Merry Christmas album.
I'm going to have to take his word on all that, having never heard any Rush or Alvin and the Chipmonks, nor having ever done acid. But your entry reminded me of the bit, so there you go.
I like it. Yes, Alvin and the Chipmunks is another good connection to make.
Someone else told me a story about how her conservative parents heard Rush was coming to town and bought tickets. They thought it was Rush Limbaugh...oh, how they were wrong.
