I'm watching Season 3, Disc 4 of Homicide. I just hit the episode where four of the squad makes a routine warrant call...

Wow.

"Aww, man. They wrecked my shoes, G."

Today was a good day. In the back of my head, though, was the idea that another American was beheaded. Eugene Armstrong. I hope his wife didn't see or read about the footage. And then I think that Eugene's situation is just one of many atrocities that were committed around the world today. How sad.

And what type of human do you have to be to sever the head of a living person?

I resent the fact that normal Americans are bearing the burden of neoconservative utopian thinking.

The same type of human that would roast innocents slowly in order to "Save their Souls",because their comic book said that it was okay and maybe even good to do so, and that those who perpetrated such barbarities would recieve their reward in whatever paradise their Holy men told them they would go to if they JUST DID THIS to those that are different. Thank whatever that we are a secular country and the Loonies are held in check by a modern society and the rule of law, however flawed.
I'd better stop. I feel a rant coming on and I need to go to bed soon.

Living in this country does not save us from this shit. KKK, sundry militia, abortion clinic bombings, WACO...I'm sure we could think of much, much more.

Well certainly not completely, but you must admit that our progress as a society has diminished their influence and the outcry (And the capture of the 'Holy Warriors' responsible) has led to a great diminution of those outrages perpetuated here in the U.S..
I still hold to my idea that even as the most Nutty- Religious country in the world, the slavering shamans that would love to see that type of "Justice" meted out to those that differ are still kept in check by a Criminal Justice system that is , while broken badly, still upholds a secular interpretation of law.
And on that note; Whatever help us of Bush is reelected....
