[livejournal.com profile] patricks pointed this article out. Young Republicans are all gung ho about the war in Iraq, but seem to be "otherwise engaged" to actually participate in it.

Bill Maher also said it: if you support the Iraq war, go serve in it. There's a number of us who don't agree with it, and don't want to participate in it. But I'm amazed that the ones who support it so much don't want to help serve in it, especially since there is a need. Numerous articles have come out stating that the military is not reaching their recruitment goals. And yet young Republicans don't see a need for themselves to serve. Nice.

And yet the overwhelming majority of those actually serving, regardless of their political party, are FOR the actions being taken in Iraq. Go figure.

Sometimes supporting the war simply means not smugly laughing and pointing fingers and saying "I told you so" when something goes wrong.
