The Remains of the Day

Work kept me for about 5 hours. I arrive home by 10pm rather exhausted.

What happens when I'm mentally beat? I channel surf. Movieplex caught my attention with John Huston's 1952 Moulin Rouge. Jose Ferrer stars as Toulouse L'autrec. I don't recall seeing any of Jose's older movies. I only knew of some of his work from recent years. And when I say recent, I mean from the 80s. Zsa Zsa Gabor is in it, as well.

The French accents in this are terrible.

Even more entertaining, Jose must have had to walk in a trench for the whole film. Toulouse speaks of his ugliness. But c'mon. It's Jose Ferrer. He's a handsome devil, despite his lousy fraccent.

Toulouse had a cane flask?!? I need one of those. Well, I don't need one. And I wouldn't be fooling anyone by walking around the office with a cane.

Saint's Row

So I played Saint's Row for the first time last night on my Xbox. It has a similar feel. I enjoyed it. It will be a nice outlet for frustration.

I borrowed Tomb Raider Legends from Gamefly. I wasn't too enthused. Back it goes.

Crackdown also looks good, as it was developed by the some of the folks who designed GTA. This time you play a "supercop". I downloaded the Demo off Xbox Live.

Currently I'm having a nice Sunday morning. I did some much needed straightening out of the domicile. No, it's far from perfect, but some clutter was sorted and cast aside, and some vacuuming was done.

Musings Roundup

1. While heading up north from Modesto today, I saw signs for the Moaning Caverns. I was struck with a glaringly inconsequential realization. Forget my first dog's name. Forget the street I grew up in. My porn name will now and forever be Mona Cavern. Or Monique Cavern. I can't decide.

2. I think this year's toy purchase will be a new vacuum cleaner. Maybe a Dyson.

3. Am I the only one who thinks of "My Dick in a Box" whenever one sees Justin Timberlake?

4. I'm quite over Chevy Commercials.

5. I have accidentally tossed my cat's favorite pet mouse up high on my entertainment center in a freak fetch-playing accident. I'm now watching him track said mouse. He's thorough, careful, and yet totally unsuccessful.
